Like humans, dogs have a one-in-three lifetime risk of getting cancer-approximately 6 million are newly diagnosed each year in the United States. Older dogs, and certain predisposed breeds, are at even higher risk. Unfortunately, cancer is typically diagnosed in dogs at an advanced stage, when treatment options are limited, and chances of a cure are low.
